Many golfers overlook the subject of insurance but maybe you should consider it in todays "blame someone else" environment. Whilst it is a personal choice, with premiums starting from £20 upwards depending on the level of cover required it could prove invaluable should you be unfortunate enough to get involved in a claim especially if it is regarding personal injury. With more public golfers now using Hartswood golf course and being unfamiliar with the layout the potential for accidents and injury is increased.

1. Public liability insurance which is included in many policies covers you if you cause injury to another golfer or damage someone’s property. Hartswood golf club is affiliated to England Golf where there may be a provision for such cover up to £10m for qualifying claims (whatever they may be) but many golfers may feel they are better safe than sorry by ensuring they have personal cover.

2. Most basic golf insurance policies cover damaged, lost, or stolen equipment with some restrictions, although some home contents insurance also cover this so worth checking first.

3. Personal Accident Insurance protects your own welfare (when someone shouts "Fore" remember to duck!)

4. "Hole in one" insurance to cover the bar tab is hopefully the only insurance you will want to make a claim on and is included on many policies when scored in a club competition.

For those looking to investigate further, check the England Golf Website and the internet generally a popular site is Golfcare (allegedly) available by tapping this hyperlink or copying and pasting it into your browser:-

Every golfer needs to decide if and what insurance is right for them, and this is just a heads up for something that may have slipped your mind during the pandemic.
