HGC Race to Dubai competition (2026)

Following last year’s trial of the HGC “Road to Dubai Competition” the committee have decided to run it this year as a full competition with the winning prize being 2027 FREE MEMBERSHIP.

A) How much does it cost to enter

Nothing

B) How do I enter

You automatically enter by playing the qualifying competitions (See appendix “A” below). In simple terms you don’t have to do anything.

C) Who’s eligible to enter

If you eligible to enter one of the club qualifying competition (See appendix A), you’ll automatically be entered into this competition. It would be good if the juniors participated, and ladies of course.  

D) How do I win

If you finish with the most points for the qualifying competitions (See appendix “A” below) you win. In the unlikely event a draw occurs, count back will be whoever scores the most points in the last singles comp in which one or more of the contestants played.  

E) What you need to do to win.

1) Enter as many competitions as you can: Every person who enters a qualifying competition automatically receives 10 points for that competition.

2)  Play as well as you can: Points are awarded dependent upon where you finish in the result sheet, example:

a) Assume 15 people enter a particular competition, the winner receives 150 points, 2^nd 140 and so on with the last place receiving 10 points. Similarly, if 20 players participate the winner receives 200 points, last place receives 10 Points

b) In pairs competitions again assume 16 people (8 Pairs) enter. The winners receive 160 + 150 points = 310 / 2 = 155 points each, the last pairings receive (20 + 10 points = 30 / 2 = 15 points each)

c) if people enter a “No return” card these are considered to be in last position ie below anyone who completes the round. 

3) If your unable to enter all the competitions, then target those competitions with additional weighting for example, Club Championship carry a 175% supplement eg

                  a) assume 16 players are in your division the winner will receive

                                    10 Points for entering

                                    160 points for winning

                                    280 points for weighting

                  Total points for this sample player in this Comp = 450 Points
