History

"The Clayton Limit Bowl" was donated by one of the club's founders - Ken Clayton. The 'limit' referred to the fact that it was limited to 24 handicappers, which was the highest handicap that you could have "at that time", whether your score averaged 94 or 124.

It was opened up to 18 - 24 handicappers. As handicaps fell and there were too few 24 handicappers to make it a competition it then developed into a Stableford comp open to Index's 14 & above.

In (2023) due to increased numbers of members it was reinstated to minimumĀ 18 "Playing H'cap" (16 index min)Ā following changes to WHS system which basically increased most peoples handicap and changed maximum 28 hcp to 54

2024

England golf once again tweaked the system meaning our whites slope changed slightly meaning the "playing HCP" for 18Ā means a minimum the comp is open to players with an index of 15.4Ā

The Comp as can be seen is an own times (OT) comp played off Whites open from Sat 28/6/25 - Fri 6/7/25 inclusive"
