Following HGC success last year, our current Captain (who chooses the team) decided to opt for the same four players to see if they could replicate and defend HGC title @ Chigwell golf club.
HGC did well scoring 87 points (1 less than last year) unfortunately it wasn't enough, and we were beaten by Mardyke Valley Golf Club who shot 90 points. HGC still came in a respectable 2nd place.

In 2025 the EGU held their inaugural Centenary Club Team Trophy competition to continue the celebration of the Essex Golf Union's 100th year of being a golfing union.
HGC were represented by the the vice Captain (Captain was unavailable) and his chosen team (What a good looking bunch and not bad golfers either, well some of them)
Thorndon Park hosted this inaugural event. The format of the event was an 18-hole stableford competition with the best 2 net scores from the 4 players in the team to count towards the team's score. The handicap allowance was 85% individuals handicap with a maximum handicap limit of 16.0. 36 clubs entered the event all hoping to be the inaugural winner of the competition
A popular score for a place in the top 10 was 80 points with 4 teams, Thorpe Hall, Canons Brook, Crondon Park and Theydon Bois all tying on this score. In 3rd place with 81 points was Mardyke Valley narrowly losing out to Stapleford Abbotts who also scored 81 points, however, they had a better back nine to secure second place. The impressive winning total of 88 points went to the team of Ken Alborough (vice-captain), Michael Albon, Rhys Piper and Craig Saxton from Hartswood GC.
