Ladies & Gents, it may not seem like it with the current weather but, the competition season is about to commence the first one being a new comp intended to involve ALL members its a 9-hole comp for both men and ladies young and old.
You can incorporate this comp into an 18 hole round, all we ask is that you respect the rules and participate in the spirit (excuse the pun) in which the comp was intended.
For reasons best know to others the cost for this comp is only £2 unlike all the other upcoming comps which are £3

All members are invited to enter the inaugural SPIRIT SPRINT Competition to be held over the week of Sunday 16th February to Saturday 22nd February (both inclusive). This is a new singles competition for FUN.
It is called “SPIRIT” because there will be one single prize of a bottle of spirit (whisky, gin, vodka etc. or other booze) of the winner’s choice up to the value of £22.00 (so forget the champagne!). It will be a SPRINT because it will be held over a specific 9 holes only. You can play your usual 18 holes but only the 9 holes nearest the clubhouse (1, 2, 12-18) will count for this competition, holes 3 – 11 can be played and recorded on your card but will be ignored for this competition’s purposes. In making this a 9 hole, multi tee, weeklong, stableford competition off 95% half of full course handicap (computer will work it all out) it is hoped to encourage greater participation from those members whose circumstances prevent or deter them from entering the 18-hole weekend competitions.
The normal rules apply – you can enter on the day, sign on IG and the competition sheet and pay BEFORE teeing off and submit your card, printed and signed by both marker and player on the day of play. Anything else is cheating. Cost will be £2 (you even get a discount! but prepay does not apply) and all proceeds go to club funds. The single prize will be decided by computer countback if there are ties and then, if necessary, by drawing a card from the players still tied. No other prizes or benefits (such as entry to the Masters) will be given. Men may play off white or yellow tees (mark your card accordingly or you will be deemed to play off yellows) and ladies play off red tees (come on ladies give it a shot – you may get some “shots” back). This competition can be played at the same time as any other competition you are in such as a match play knock out BUT no gimmes allowed on the 9 competition holes and if you are unable to score any stableford points on a hole please pick up to keep the game moving. Scores will not count towards your handicap record, but if you want them to please enter them separately as a general play score via your phone or the lounge computer.
